VIENNA - William Andrew Farrare Sr., "Andrew," 85, of Vienna, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at 11 p.m. Andrew was born in Vienna on April 2, 1925, to the late Ollie and Mary (Gilbert) Farrare. Andrew attended school in Philadelphia, and married his sweetheart Evelyn DeLarge on Dec. 22, 1943. Andrew was a veteran of World War II as well as a devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He worked at DuPont Construction until he retired in 1987. During retirement, he enjoyed family gatherings, gardening and traveling. He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Evelyn (DeLarge) Farrare of Vienna; nine children, Emma Briscoe (Isaiah) of Cambridge, William Jr. (Ellen) of Millersville, Marie Ackerman (Howard) of Vienna, Brenda West (Ernest) of Rhodesdale, Reginald Farrare (Joyce) of Millersville, Marlene Beasley (John) of Rhodesdale, Anthony Farrare (Shirl) of Baltimore, Andrenette Cooper (Derwin) of Clinton, and Andre Farrare (Cassandra) of Baltimore; four adopted children, Richard Beasley (Shaquita) of Wilmington, Del., Victoria Beasley Beulah (Terrance) of Federalsburg, Lamont Farrare of Vienna, and Tyericia Farrare of Vienna; two foster children, Ricardo Diggs, and Crystal Diggs, both of Baltimore; three sisters and two brothers, all living in Philadelphia, Eva Dyson, Hazel Simmons (Stephen), Geraldine Farrare, Oliver Farrare (Octavia), Benjamin Farrare (Elizabeth); three sisters-in-law, Viola Riley of Upper Marlboro, Barbara Harris (Samuel) of Richmond, Va., and Naomi Farrare of Philadelphia; 33 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and any nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon Farrare, and Ross Farrare; two sisters, Jennifer Farrare, and Sylvia (Farrare) Shelton; one grandson, Cordell Demetris Farrare; and one great-grandson, Austen Hill. A Wake was held from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Aug. 27, at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 516 S. Main St., Hurlock. Services were noon, Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, with a viewing one hour prior, at North Dorchester High School Auditorium. A repast was held directly after services at Hurlock Fire Station Hall. Burial was held 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Beulah.
