GEORGETOWN - William F. "Bill" Byram, Jr., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa. son of the late William F., Sr. and Ruth F. (Missimer) Byram. Bill worked with Verizon for 46 years and retired as a cable splicer in 2001. After retiring, and up until the time of his death, he worked for Sports at the Beach doing seasonal lawn maintenance of the property. Bill enjoyed staying active, he worked as a volunteer at Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge and loved anything outdoors, especially walking his beloved dogs on various trails at local state parks. Bill also enjoyed supporting his son Mark as he raced for several years at local and regional dirt tracks. He loved his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids and supporting anything they were involved in. Bill had served in the National Guard and was an active member of the Telecom Pioneers. In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Byram. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret Ann (West) Byram; three children, David Byram and wife Wendy, of Georgetown, Suzanne Hurd and husband Chuck, of Harrington and Mark Byram, of Georgetown; six grandchildren, Kyle Byram, Kayla Byram, Christine Ellingsworth and her companion Curtis Sauve, Jessica Pepper and husband Cody, Alison Watson and husband Jordan and Shane Byram; seven great-grandchildren, Jackson Byram, Lileigh Byram, Kaitlyn Davis, Karly Davis, Kamryn Davis, Jordyn Sauve and Brynlee Pepper; a brother, Bruce Byram, of Lititz, Pa.; a brother in-law Gene Savage of Berlin, Md. and his two dogs, Kate and Miley. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, with visitation after 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and in support of Bill's love for animals, the family suggests contributions to the SPCA, 22918 Dupont Boulevard, Georgetown, De 19947.
