HOUSTON - William E. "Short Billy" Jester, of Houston, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at his home. He was 88. Bill was born on November 14, 1925, the son of the late Edward and Leva Jester. He retired from Delaware Electric as a lineman after 35 years. Bill often spend time at Spence's Bazaar where he worked as a runner for many years. He was a harness racing driver, racing at various tracks in the area. Bill enjoyed going camping at Trails End Camp Grounds in Virginia. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; a grandson, Henry Webb III; and two brothers, John and Norman. He is survived by a daughter, Florence Wootten of Lincoln; a son, Richard Jester Sr. of Frederica; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; a niece from Houston; and a special friend, Anna Zimmerman of Houston. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, August 4, 2014 at Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 W. Market St, Greenwood; friends may call 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, August 3, 2014. Interment will be held at Union Cemetery in Georgetown. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Fleischauer Funeral Home, PO Box 502, Greenwood, DE 19950 to help defray funeral cost.
