William Clyde Hensley

BASSETT, Va. - William Clyde Hensley of Blue Ridge View Lane, Bassett, Via., died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at his home. Hensley was born April 17, 1929 in Patrick County, Va., to the late James Auscho Hensley and Ivory Bowman Hensley. He was a veteran having served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended schools in Patrick County and was a retired automobile mechanic. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Douglas Hensley and Isaac Ray Hensley. He is survived by two sons, William Michael Hensley of Smyrna, Del., Charles Randolph Hensley of Elkton, Md.; and one daughter, Phyllis Elaine Hensley Smith of Seaford, Del.; three brothers, James Clinton Hensley of Ararat, Robert Henry Hensley of Bassett, and Thomas "Tom" Floyd Hensley of Spencer; four sisters, Lula Hensley Thompson, Betty Hensley Wright and Mary Hensley Stump of Bassett and Rachel Hensley Ross of Martinsville; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at Red Bank Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Ararat, Va. with Rev. James Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Service Chapel Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wright Funeral Service & Cremations is serving the Hensley family.
