
Mandros, 92 SMYRNA - William C. "Bill" Mandros departed this life on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012. Mr. Mandros was born Oct. 30, 1920 in Lancaster, Pa. the son of the late Christ B. and Evdokodia (Prokovakis) Mandros. Bill graduated High School at J.P.M. Caskey and entered the Army from September 30, 1942 to Dec. 30, 1945. He was a World War II Veteran and received many medals. He then moved to Delaware and was employed by General Motors, Boxwood Plant, from which he retired with 30 years of service. Bill's favorite sport was football (Pittsburgh Steelers fan) and he loved playing bingo at the Mamie Warren Senior Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Mandros in 2006; his son, Christ Mandros in 1996; and his brothers, John and George Mandros. Bill is survived by his daughters, Virginia Bornelis (Pete) of Lancaster, Linda Townsley of Smyrna, which he resided with before entering Harbor Health Care in Lewes, Laura Uhrmacher of Smyrna, Sue Jarman (Roy) of Smyrna; step sons, William G. Copes (Irene) of Smyrna, Charles E. Copes (Maryjane) of Smyrna; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Mandros; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and his little buddy pet Chihuahua, Symba "Snookie". A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna.
