Willard Oland Flanary

MILFORD - Willard Oland Flanary passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, with his family by his side, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Willard was born on June 20, 1937 in Smith County, Va. son of the late Curtis and Cornelia (Presley) Flanary. He was employed for 30 years with the Montgomery County Public School system in Md. as a building service manager, retiring from his position in 2002. Mr. Flanary enjoyed spending his spare time tinkering with various projects around his home. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and WWE events on television. Willard loved listening to country music, especially Hank Williams and Willie Nelson. He was a member of the Freedom Worship Center in Milford. In addition to his parents, Mr. Flanary was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn; and two sisters, Betty Jo and Mildred. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sandra "Sandi" S. Flanary; two sons, Steven W. Flanary, Sr. and Robert Flanary, Sr. both of Myersville, Md.; a step-son, James Davis of Brunswick, Md.; three daughters, Rita J. Swire and her husband Charles, Sr. of Harper Ferry, W.Va; Geneva Harper and her husband William of Charlestown, W.Va; and Patricia Burker and her husband Ellis of Sharpsburg, Md.; a step-daughter, Karen A. Taylor and her husband Andrew of Damascus, Md.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a special friend, Bill Wilson; his beloved canine companion, Amber, and feline companion, Pookie. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, with services to begin at 12 p.m. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Freedom Worship Center, 2033 Shockley Rd, Milford, DE, 19963. Condolences may be emailed at www.delmarvaobits.com/rogers
