SEAFORD — Two wanted individuals were arrested following a traffic stop Monday night and firearms were found, Seaford police Deputy Chief Michael Rapa said.

Michael Simerly, 31, of Greenwood, told police he had firearms in a vehicle that was stopped for a registration check in a Royal Farms parking lot at approximately 9:58 p.m., authorities said.

A handgun was seen in the front passenger area and a shotgun in the right rear seat area, Deputy Chief Rapa said.

Police said Mr. Simerly, who was driving, was wanted out of Delaware State Police Troop 5 on felony warrants. Passenger Julie Holston, 44, of Bridgeville, was also wanted on warrants, police said. Both were taken into custody.

The handgun was found to have an obliterated serial number, police said.

During a vehicle search, police said, officers also located a digital scale, empty heroin bags and a small battle ax under the driver’s seat.

Mr. Simerly was charged with possession of a weapon with altered serial number, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, second-degree conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 3 and given a $22,805 secured bail.

Ms. Holston was charged with possession of a weapon with altered serial number, second-degree conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. She received a secured bail of $12,500.
