DOVER — A wanted 25-year-old man eluded officers during a Monday vehicle pursuit and remained sought Tuesday morning, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.
Eduardo Griffith of Laurel was seen driving a black Honda at approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday in the area of William and Pear streets in Dover, police said. The vehicle was bearing Maryland temporary tags.
Mr. Griffith is wanted on various charges by Delaware State Police Troop 5 and Sussex County Superior Court. He fled from Dover officers following an attempted traffic stop, police said.
During the pursuit, the suspect tossed a firearm out of the vehicle’s window after crossing into Maryland, police said. As they approached Chestertown, officers discontinued the chase for safety concerns amid traffic congestion.
Mr. Griffith is wanted on charges of possession of a firearm/ammunition by a person prohibited (two counts), disregarding a police officer’s signal (second offense), tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest and multiple traffic violations.
An investigation was ongoing Tuesday, and police asked anyone with information to call 736-7111. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be submitted through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or here; a cash reward is possible for information leading to an arrest.
