Wanda June Sturgill

LINCOLN - Wanda June Sturgill, formerly of Elkton, Md., died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012. Born in Iaeger, W. Va., on Dec. 28, 1934, she was the daughter of the late George Vance, Sr. and Dolly Newberry-Eldreth. Mrs. Sturgill was a homemaker. She enjoyed being with her family as well as quilting, traveling, crocheting, gardening and cooking. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sturgill was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence D. Sturgill, Sr.; daughter, Beverly J. Griffith; and sister, Dorothy Tesch. Survivors include her children, Lawrence David Sturgill, Jr. and wife, Connie, Blackwood, N.J., Jerry L. Sturgill and wife, Mary, Buford, Ga., Scott R. Sturgill and wife, Reatha, Elkton, Md., Brenda S. Norbutas and husband, Wade, Rising Sun, Md., Kim Bowles, Lincoln, Del., Karl Sturgill and wife, April, Milford, Del. and Steven H. Sturgill, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; sister, Betty Harris, Elkton, Md.; 14 grandchildren; and a great granddaughter. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921 with interment in Union Cemetery, Union, MD. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
