Abbott, 62 MADISON, Md. - Walter Michael "Mike" Abbott of 1415 Taylors Island Rd., Madison, Md. went to be with the Lord on Sept. 29, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family. He was born in Dorchester County Nov. 20, 1949. He was the son of the late Walter O. and Sarah Cheezum Abbott of Hurlock. He was a waterman, an upholsterer, painted jet airplanes, managed the Ferry Boat and Portside, and owned Bottoms Up Lounge. He is survived by his wife, Rachel; three sons, Walter "Mike" of Indian Bone Rd., Richard "Ricky" of Taylors Island, and Walter O. "Wally" of Madison; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann "Libby" of Madison; four grandchildren; two sisters, Sandy Hare and Terry Lynn Abbott, both of Hurlock. He has given his body to Maryland Anatomy Board in an effort to help others. A covered dish memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at 7 p.m. in the Cambridge VFW. In lieu of flowers, a donation to his home would be greatly appreciated.
