Hufford, 77 SMYRNA - Walter M. "Joe" Hufford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at home on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013. Mr. Hufford was born on July 10, 1935 in Newry, Pa. the son of the late Walter W. Hufford and Martha K. Hoover-Hoffecker. He retired after 53 years of work as a Truck Driver, of which he spent over 20 years with Globe Union and later Johnson Controls. He later started his own trucking company, Hufford Trucking, from which he retired. Walter loved working on cars and his dog, Benji. He always had a dog riding with him throughout his truck driving years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; a son, Brian in 1980; and a grandson, Chris in 1992. He is survived by three daughters, Marcia Daniels and her husband Nick of Clayton, Roberta Gosser and her husband Phil of Bridgeville, and Cindy Wright and her husband Dave of Dover; a son, Kevin Hufford of Smyrna; seven grandchildren, Kim, Rodney, Dwight, April, David, Ashley, and Derek; and six great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located on 29 S. Main Street, Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Burial will be held in Gracelawn Memorial Park in Wilmington, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19904. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
