W. Pierce Thompson Sr.

Thompson, Sr., 79 MILFORD - W. Pierce Thompson, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at home. He was born in Milford the son of the late Linden and Lillian (Smoot) Thompson. He was a veteran of the National Guard. He was a self-employed contractor, owning Conventional Builders in Houston since 1975. He was a member of Sardis Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis Selby Thompson, John L. Thompson, John M. Thompson and Clifford Hammond, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris Thompson; children, W. Pierce Thompson, Jr. and wife Bonnie, Gregory D. Thompson and wife Kathy, Brian C. Thompson and wife Donna; two sisters, Marguerite Robbins and Lillian Clarke Vanderwende; nine grandchildren, W. Pierce Thompson, III, Timothy B. Thompson, Casey S. Thompson, Caitlin C. Sullivan, Diana Conlon, Erica Lynch, Brandon Kenton, Kristin Thompson and Brittany Thompson; and ten great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, DE 19963, where friends may call Friday night from 6 to 8 pm. Interment will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, Del. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Sardis Church, P.
