Vivian E. Evans, 81

SMITH ISLAND - Vivian E. Evans, 81, of Rhodes Point, Smith Island, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield. Born on Rhodes Point on March 30, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Louise Bradshaw Evans. Her husband of 60 years, Milton F. Evans, died July 10, 2006. She was assistant Post Master at the Rhodes Point Post Office for more than 30 years. A faithful member of Calvary United Methodist Church, she sang in the choir, was active in the UMW and served as treasurer. She loved to serve her church and her community. She is survived by two sons, Stephen Evans and his wife Joyce of Crisfield, and Milton "Milty" Evans, Jr. of Rhodes Point; three daughters, Deborah Michael and her husband Ted of Old Bridge, N.J., Sheila Evans and her husband Filmore of Crisfield, and Missy Tyler and her husband Lee of Rhodes Point; two sisters, Peggy Owens of Crisfield, and Sandra Wells of Eden; a daughter-in-law, Connie Evans of Rhodes Point; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dennis C. Evans on April 17, 2002. Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Calvary U. M. Church. The Rev. Rick Edmund officiated. Interment was in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Calvary U.M. Church, c/o Mildred Tyler, 3271 Marsh Road, Rhodes Point, MD 21824.
