CAMBRIDGE - Vivian C. Johnson, was taken home to be with her Lord Jesus on April 13, 2009, in Coastal Hospice by the Lake in Salisbury, Md. She was 76. Vivian was born Aug. 8, 1932, daughter of the late Josephine E. Brown and Ernest Thompson. She was the oldest of nine siblings and was educated in the Dorchester County School System and a member of the class of 1949. She was employed at the Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Washington, D.C. for more than 30 years until her retirement in 2008. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Avenue Seventh Day Adventist church, an avid reader, enjoyed music, cooking and her card writing ministry. She is survived by four children, daughters, Joan Thompson (Cambridge), Leslie Meekins (Cambridge); sons, Michael Johnson and Melvin Johnson (both of Easton); four brothers, Ernest Thompson (Emily), Linkwood, Cyril Thompson (Linkwood), David Thompson(Antioch, CA), Donald Thompson (St. Louis, MO); a sister, Carolyn Thompson (Laurel, MD); three grandchildren, Donta Kieffer, Kamellia Griffin and Myesha Johnson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Thompson; and two sisters, Josephine Thompson and Joyce Goldsborough. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2009, at Jubliee Christian Fellowship 412 Academy St., Cambridge, with a viewing Thursday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at Henry Funeral Home, PA 510 Washington St Cambridge.
