Virginia L. DeSantis

DOVER - Virginia "Ginny" L. DeSantis passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 surrounded by loving family members at Kent General Hospital. Born in Denver Colo., she was the daughter of Msgt. Charles E. Cook and the late Angeline Hirschfield Cook. As an Air force child she lived in several states. She attended Del Rio High School, Texas. While in Del Rio, she meet Frank N. DeSantis in 1958, her loving husband of 53 years. Ginny was a dedicated member of Holy Cross Catholic Church for nearly 52 years. As a member of Holy Cross she was a Eucharistic Minister, involved with Charismatic Prayer Group, Marriage Encounter, Cursillo Movement, and several home prayer centers. She and her husband were Foster Parents with Catholic Charities. Through the years she had loved, cherished, and fostered 17 infants and numerous babies with her day care. Ginny was a member of the local Red Hats and past "Queen Mother". She was also very involved in the Democratic Party. Ginny enjoyed her summers in Fenwick Island. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She touched many lives and will be fondly missed by those who loved her. She is survived by her father, Charles E. Cook of Frederick, Md.; her husband, Frank of Dover; daughter, Tina DeSantis of Marlton, N.J.; sons, Frank DeSantis, Jr. and his wife Lisa, of Henderson, Md., Daniel DeSantis and his wife Cathy, of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Tony DeSantis of Dover; grandchildren, Kristyn Kuzniar and her husband Michael, of Haddon Heights, N.J., Amber Hall and her husband Geoffrey, and Sarah DeSantis all of Hampton, Va., Nicholas and Matthew DeSantis, both of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Cody DeSantis of Dover; great-grandchildren, Rory, Kaydance and Greyson; brothers, Edward Cook and his wife Carole, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Allen Cook of Frederick, Md.; long time friend "sister" Alice Hutchison and her husband Jack, of Harrington; and she was expecting her 4th great-grandchild in July, John Michael. A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
