Virginia Brown Waters

HARRINGTON - Virginia Brown Waters, 85, of Harrington, passed away on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at DE Hospice Center, Milford, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born at home in Harrington on April 16, 1926, to parents George C. and Alexzine Dean Brown. She was a long time member of the Harrington Moose Lodge and the local Eastern Star. She spent her earlier years working at the Milford Stitching Company and for 30 years, in 1975 opened A & W Drapery and Upholstery shop in her home in Harrington. At that same time she drove a school bus for the Lake Forest School District under supervisor Lee Dean. She received a pin before retiring after 35 years of service. She often mentioned that she loved all her 'kids' and missed every moment off the bus. She also traveled, to all but 6 states with her husband in his 'big rig' truck as companion and relief driver. She enjoyed crocheting from an early age and made many beautiful items for family and friends over the years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ada Graham; and a brother, Howard Brown; She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Thomas A. Waters; two sons, G. C. 'Sonny' Donovan and his wife Patricia of Florida, Roy Donovan and his wife Shelley of Florida; a daughter, Lisa Kay Watts of Florida; three grandsons, Danny Donovan of Harrington, Travis Taylor of North Carolina, Sean Michael Donovan of Florida; one granddaughter, Cheryl Showard and her husband Jerry; two great-grandsons, Ryan Watkins and Chase Watkins, both of Harrington; one great-great-grandson and one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Leon Brown and Harry 'Brownie' Brown, both of Harrington; two sisters, Ruth Melvin and Dorothy Wechtenhiser (husband Bob), all of Harrington; cousin, lifelong Best Friend and special 'Sister' of 80 years, Mary Cahall Schultz of California; also many nieces, nephews and friends; Virginia's family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Delaware Hospice and especially Chanda and Florina for their support and kindness. There will be no viewing. Graveside Services will be on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901. Arrangements by Price Funeral Home, Harrington.
