Vincent K. Hudgins Sr.

Hudgins, Sr., 90 TOWNSEND - Vincent K. Hudgins, Sr. passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 6, 2012. Mr. Hudgins was born March 10, 1922, in Newport News, Va., the son of the late Walter Hudgins and Frances Montanez Hudgins. He served his country with honors during WWII in the United States Navy. Mr. Hudgins retired after many years of work as a Sheet Metal Mechanic. Vincent enjoyed gardening. He was an excellent carpenter who loved building things and worked well with his hands. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by ten siblings. He was the last of 11 children in his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ruth; two sons, Carl Hudgins and his wife Donna of Clayton, Del. and Vincent Hudgins, Jr. and his wife Lee of Smyrna, Del.; five grandchildren, Jackie, Mazie, Michael, Jake, and Jesse; and 17 great grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St., Smyrna. Funeral services will begin Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Smyrna. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
