Vera Pauline Swadley

OCEAN VIEW - Vera Pauline Swadley passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Country Rest Home, Greenwood, Del. Mrs. Swadley was born September 30, 1929 in Arthurdale, W.Va. to the late Harold Keck and Mary Elizabeth Keck. She was a teacher for Lord Baltimore Elementary School in Ocean View in the 1950's and 1960's. Mrs. Swadley went on to teach music at Easton Middle School in the 1970's. She owned and operated her own restaurant, Tower Shores Restaurant in Bethany Beach, Del. for 30 years retiring in 2002. Mrs. Swadley was a member of the Mariners Bethel United Methodist Church in Ocean View and the VFW Post 7234, Ocean View, DE. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, needle work, antiques, collecting coins, music especially Opera. Mrs. Swadley loved all W. Virginia Mountaineers sports. Her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Mary Virginia Black. Mrs. Swadley is survived by her son, Stephen Lee Swadley and his wife Pamela Ann of Lincoln, Del.; daughters, Deborah Swadley Engel and her husband Kenneth Joseph of Ridgewood, N.J., Roberta Ann Lewis of Dagsboro, Del.; sister, Betty Malcolm of Lewisville, Ohio; grandchildren, Stephanie Lynn and Beth Ann Swadley, Tyler Patrick Lewis and Sarah Pauline Engel. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Mariners Bethel United Methodist Church, 81 Central Avenue, Ocean View, DE 19970. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
