Vada Catherine Collins

FELTON - Vada Catherine (Helmick) Collins, formerly of Milford, passed away peacefully at Delaware Hospice Center on December 8, 2014. Born in Harman, W.VA., she was the daughter of the late Dayton and Alpha Helmick, and the wife of the late John Collins of Milford. Mrs. Collins was employed by 3M, Minnesota Mining Co. from 1955 until retiring in 1992. She was a volunteer at Milford/Bayhealth Medical Center. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, her first great-grandson, family, friends and gardening. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Wilbert, Huey, Earl, Olie and Denver Helmick; and a sister Beaula Crossland. She is survived by her son, Mike Collins and his wife Cate, of Burlington, N.J.; a daughter Patricia Capron and her husband Walt, of Felton; her grandchildren Ryan Capron of Harrington, Christy Collins, of Burlington, N.J., Barry and Cody Collins, of Roebling, N.J.; great-grandson Brayden Field of Burlington, N.J.; a brother Gordon Helmick and his wife Fran, of S.C.; sister-in-law Doris Helmick, of Milford; brother-in-law Roy Collins, of Md.; sister-in-law Martha Brust, of Texas; several nieces and nephews; and a dear cousin, Lucy (Effinger) Warns of Harrington. A Celebration of Vada's Life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford where friends may visit with the family from 11 am to 12 noon. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to either Bayhealth Foundation's General Endowment Fund, care of the Bayhealth Foundation, 640 S. State Street, Dover, Del. 19901 or to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Del. 19963.
