Vaccination event for Kent County employees, family and friends set for June 3

Posted

DOVER — Kent County’s Department of Public Safety is holding a vaccination event for county employees, family members and friends of county employees who are interested in getting a COVID-19 vaccine.

The vaccination clinic will be held on Thursday, June 3, from 9 a.m. to noon. It will be a drive-thru event at the Administrative Complex parking lot in Dover (555 Bay Road).

No pre-registration will be needed, registration will occur on site between 9 a.m. and noon.

The primary vaccine will be the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

There will be a number of Pfizer vaccinations for teens 12 years old to 17 years old who cannot receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. As the Pfizer vaccine is a two-dose vaccine series, individuals who do receive the Pfizer vaccine at the event will need to receive the second dose through a local pharmacy.

The most recent available statewide data has 889,500 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines being administered in Delaware so far. But the actual total is likely higher — the Delaware Division of Public Health did not have vaccination data posted on Thursday due to processing delays.

The DPH did report 77 new cases of the virus and no new COVID-19-related deaths in Thursday’s update, bringing those total numbers to 108,607 positives and 1,660 COVID-19-related deaths.

COVID-19 hospitalizations fell by eight compared to the day prior, down to 59 which is the third-lowest total of 2021. Of those currently hospitalized, eight cases are considered critical.
