DOVER — Terrence Mears, 19, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jermaine Walker, 19, of Felton, were arrested on drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop Tuesday, authorities said.
Delaware State Police said the men were stopped on Main Street while riding in a vehicle without headlights at approximately 8:59 p.m. A juvenile passenger and infant were also in the vehicle, according to spokesman Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto.
An odor of marijuana was detected and Mr. Walker was found to have an active capias warrant for his arrest. He and Mr. Mears were taken into custody without incident.
Police said an ensuing search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 87.16 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a High Standard revolver with an obliterated serial number.
Mr. Walker is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms, police said.
Mr. Mears was charged with possession of a firearm while possessing a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number, along with second-degree conspiracy, endangering the welfare of a child and failure to have working headlamps. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on $43,001 unsecured bond.
Mr. Walker was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number and possession of paraphernalia, along with second-degree conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned by JP Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $43,001 secured bond.
