DOVER — Two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries when they were shot while riding in a vehicle Wednesday, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.
Authorities said they do not believe the incident on South Little Creek Road in the area of Fox Road was a random act, based on information obtained during the ongoing investigation.
According to Sgt. Hoffman, the shooting occurred at approximately 6:55 p.m., when a car passed the victims’ vehicle and the front-seat passenger fired several shots. A 20-year-old female suffered a single gunshot wound to her buttocks, and a 22-year-old male was struck once in the left arm, police said.
The suspect vehicle then fled, while the victims’ traveled to the TGI Fridays parking lot at 222 S. Dupont Highway and notified police, Sgt. Hoffman said.
Both victims were treated for their injuries after being transported to Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus.
Police asked anyone with information to call 736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be submitted to law enforcement through Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333 or here; a cash reward is possible for information leading to an arrest.
