DOVER — Two Dover residents were arrested Tuesday in connection with a weekend shooting that left one man and one woman wounded, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.

Dashere Lewis, 30, and Stacey Henry, 23, were taken into custody without incident at 11:40 a.m. at the Super 8 hotel at 38 N. Dupont Highway, authorities said.

Sgt. Hoffman said the incident occurred at approximately 1:21 a.m. Saturday in the area of South Bradford and West Loockerman streets, near Irish Mike’s Old Town Pub. The arrests were made after a review of surveillance footage from a nearby business.

The suspects were both charged with first- and second-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and second-degree conspiracy. Mr. Lewis was also charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Mr. Lewis and Mr. Henry were each committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $162,000 and $152,000 cash bonds, respectively.

According to police, officers were in the area monitoring bar closings Saturday morning, when a gunshot was heard and a large crowd was seen in the parking area behind Irish Mike’s. A 32-year-old woman was found with a gunshot wound to her foot and transported by emergency medical services to Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus in Dover.

A 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the leg arrived at the hospital via private vehicle. He underwent surgery, and police said Wednesday that he remained hospitalized with a severe leg injury.

In a news release following the shooting, police said a crowd of 30 to 40 people “continued disorderly behavior including yelling and fighting while law enforcement was attempting to gain control of the scene and disperse the crowd and while EMS was attempting to treat and transport the female victim.”
