LAUREL — Two men were charged with murder after a shooting incident Thursday, Delaware State Police spokesman Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said.

According to police, at approximately 12:24 a.m., troopers responded to the 18000 block of Laurel Road for a report of a shooting. The responding troopers located a 49-year-old Laurel man in a driveway suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso, authorities said.

Police determined that two individuals had been involved in an altercation with the man at the residence. During the encounter, police said, the man was robbed and shot.

Police said the individuals then held an acquaintance of the wounded man at gunpoint and ordered the person to drive them away from the scene.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Identification is pending notification to the next of kin.

During the investigation, police determined that Josiah Garrison, 18, of Denton, Maryland, and Ramon Duker, 21, of Millsboro, were involved in the incident.

On Thursday at approximately 2:20 p.m., Mr. Garrison traveled to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes seeking treatment for an injury, police said. Mr. Garrison was accompanied by Mr. Duker at the hospital.

Police said troopers went to Beebe Medical Center and took both men into custody.

Mr. Garrison and Mr. Duker were both charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, second-degree kidnapping and first-degree conspiracy.

Both were arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,146,000 cash bond.

DSP asks anyone who witnessed or has information on the incident to contact Detective B. McDerby by calling 302-741-2821.
