DOVER — Darrell Hopkins, 21, was arrested on drug and firearm offenses during a traffic stop in the area of East Division Street and Spruance Road on Sunday, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.
During the stop, which happened just after 11 a.m., officers saw a bag of marijuana on the rear floor of the vehicle, authorities said.
Mr. Hopkins was detained without incident. As officers checked the car, they also discovered a loaded 9 mm handgun, Sgt. Hoffman said.
The suspect was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of marijuana and tampering with physical evidence.
Bond information was not available Monday afternoon.
