LEWES - Dyquan Snead, 19, of Harrington, was arrested following a Thursday night traffic stop, Delaware State Police spokesman Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said.
Authorities said Mr. Snead was operating a vehicle on Coastal Highway when a computer inquiry found that he had suspended driver’s license and active warrant for his arrest. A trooper conducted a traffic stop, authorities said, and detected a strong odor of marijuana when contacting him.
Mr. Snead was taken into custody without incident, and police said a subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 90.19 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, over $380 in suspected drug proceeds, and a Smith & Wesson handgun with an obliterated serial number.
Mr. Snead was charged with possession counts including with intent to deliver a controlled substance, firearm while possessing a controlled substance, firearm during the commission of a felony, and weapon with an obliterated serial number, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia (two counts), driving while suspended or revoked, and failure to have insurance identification in possession.
Following arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 3, Mr. Snead was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $70,500 cash bond.
