GREENWOOD — A 57-year-old Greenwood man was charged with weapon and DUI offenses following a traffic stop early Sunday, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said.

According to authorities, Kevin J. Drummond was seen driving a vehicle on the shoulder of Beach Highway, and he was stopped by troopers at approximately 1:53 a.m. A DUI investigation ensued after a strong odor of alcohol was detected upon contact, Cpl. Pepper said.

During the investigation, police said, Mr. Drummond was found with a concealed, loaded .380 handgun with a magazine. Other firearms and ammunition were located, as well, authorities said.

Mr. Drummond was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm while under the influence, DUI of alcohol and failure to remain within a single lane. He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 2, Rehoboth Beach, and released on a $5,550 unsecured bond.
