DOVER — William Edwards, 39, was arrested on drug and firearm charges following a traffic stop Tuesday, Dover police said.
According to authorities, Mr. Edwards was stopped while driving in the 700 block of Walker Road at approximately 3:30 p.m. As a result of a drug investigation, officers obtained a search warrant for the vehicle he was driving, spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.
The search located a loaded 9 mm handgun, 3.4 grams of crystal meth, 3.1 grams of marijuana and 50 doses of clonazepam, police said.
Mr. Edwards was charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver clonazepam, possession of a firearm/ammunition by a person prohibited (three counts), possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of marijuana, along with possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and violation of probation.
Mr. Edwards was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $144,000 cash bond.
