Tim graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Shamokin in 1961 and enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in the Military Police. After a tour of Greece, Tim was assigned to Dover Air Force Base, when he soon met Rosemary, the love of his life, on a blind date in October of 1964. They were married on June 12, 1965. After the birth of their second child in 1967, Tim was assigned to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines during the height of the Vietnam War. Tim was honorably discharged in 1968, returned to Dover, and served as a Dover City Policeman for five years before joining the Delaware State Police. During this time, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Tim retired from the State Police early due to an injury received in the line of duty and returned to school to earn a Master of Social Work. Tim continued serving others by utilizing his master's degree to work as a licensed clinical social worker from the 1980s until March of 2020.
Tim and Rosemary would have celebrated 56 years together this June. They did everything together: yoga, RVing, colonial dancing, attending live theater, visiting Longwood Gardens, walking, riding bikes, and enjoying their many German Shepherds over the years. They were devoted members of Holy Cross Church in Dover. Tim served as a eucharistic minister and Rosemary cantors and sings in the choirs. Tim was a member of the Retired Troopers Association and the National Association of Social Workers.
Tim is survived by his wife, Rosemary; their daughter, Danielle Staniszewski Beyers (John); son, Kevin Staniszewski (Stacie); and daughter. Nicole Staniszewski Beyers (Jeff); nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; brother, Marion Staniszewski (Bernadette) of Bloomsburg, Pa.; and sister, Cecilia Staniszewski Moore of Shamokin, Pa. Tim will be remembered for many great accomplishments and caring actions throughout his life. Tim was an extraordinary ordinary man.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, April 22, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at the Torbert Funeral Chapel (1145 East Lebanon Rd; Dover, DE 19901).
A memorial mass will be held on April 23, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover (641 S. State Street; Dover, DE 19901).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Code Purple Kent County, or John Flynn's New Beginnings-Next Step.
Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com
