DOVER — Three people suffered gunshot wounds during an alleged home invasion at the Towne Point Apartment complex on Monday afternoon, according to Dover police spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman.

He said the shootings took place at around 2:09 p.m. in the I Building of the Towne Point Apartments at 820 Carvel Drive.

The Dover Police Department initially received a call regarding an active home invasion inside the I Building. As officers were heading to the scene, several calls were received that numerous gunshots were fired in the area, said Master Cpl. Hoffman.

When officers arrived at the apartment complex they found two men lying on the ground between I and G Buildings, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

An investigation revealed that one of the men was a victim of the home invasion, who had exchanged gunfire with multiple suspects. The other injured man was one of the suspects.

Master Cpl. Hoffman said that several hours later, a third person suffering from gunshot wounds arrived at Christiana Hospital. It was discovered that this person was also involved in the home invasion and exchange of gunfire that followed.

Due to the ongoing investigation, the Dover Police Department said it will not be releasing any further information at this time.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302)736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous.
