While “exact reasons” for the brawl were unknown, Smyrna Police announced Monday that Quinton Lowman, 37, of the 200 block of Cheswold, was charged with first-degree attempted murder and suffered a serious injury.

Mr. Lowman and Malcolm Casson, 23, of the 8000 block of Willow Grove in Camden-Wyoming, allegedly entered a residence at approximately 2:06 a.m., police said, and a fight involving Darryl L. Glover, of the unit block of E. Mount Vernon Street, ensued.

According to spokesman Cpl. Brian Donner, an unidentified injured man went to Smyrna PD “complaining that he had just been stabbed by an acquaintance.”

The man was transported by EMS to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital in Dover with upper torso injuries, after patrol officers had rendered first aid, police said.

Police said Mr. Lowman and Mr. Casson were taken into custody at the hospital; Lowman allegedly made an unsuccessful attempt to escape from the building, authorities said.

Mr. Glover was also taken into custody after medical treatment.

All three men were cleared medically and eventually arraigned via video through JP Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach.

Mr. Casson was charged with attempted manslaughter, first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and second-degree conspiracy. He was held by the Delaware Department of Correction after failing to post a $151,000 secured bond.

Mr. Lowman was charged with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, second-degree escape, second-degree conspiracy, and theft under $1,500. He was taken to the DOC in lieu of $203,000 secured bond.

Mr. Glover was charged with first-degree assault and placed in the DOC’s custody for lack of $25,000 secured bond.

According to police in an probable cause affidavit, a detective at the crime scene recovered an approximately 10-inch long knife “with a black handle covered in blood.” Two other knives were located next to the bloody knife, police said.
