Droney, 74 MILLVILLE - Thomas Jack "Tim" Droney, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Maurice J. and Lovina Kellaway Droney, of Buffalo, N.Y. After graduating from Lafayette H.S. in 1955, he moved to Seaford, Del. with his parents. He joined the US Coast Guard in 1958, and retired in 1979 as Executive Officer of Indian River Coast Guard Station. Prior to that, he had served as Officer-in-Charge of Ocean City, Md. Coast Guard Station. He married Patricia Foulk in 1962. Moving to Millville, Del. in 1974, Tim founded Droney Marine Construction, and turned the business over to his son Clarke in 1990. Tim spend 21 years on the Millville Town Council, and was a Life Member of VFW Post 7234 in Ocean View. He also worked with his son as a Tow Boat Captain for Tow Boat U.S. Indian River from 1992 until 2012. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Foulk Droney; and son Clarke Thomas Droney, and his wife Carol; along with three grandsons, Richie, Mark, and Jay; and a granddaughter, Katie; a brother-in-law, Harry Bouchard; sisters in-law, Lisa Ellis; and her three daughters, Kim, Whitney, and Megan; Kit Crouch, husband Ron; and their daughters, Jinni and Alexa; and son Carter; niece, Sandra Peters, and husband Bob; and their children, Danny, Katie, and Jacob; and a nephew, Michael and his wife, Sharon; and their children, Mary and Mark. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a son, Christopher Patrick Droney, in 1988; and his sister, Helen Droney Bouchard, in 2008; a special friend, Ken Ellis, of Northern Va. who was with him during his hospitalization. A Memorial Service, and Celebration of His Life will be held at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE at 5 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, where friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. for visitation with the family. Interment will be scheduled at a later date at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either Delaware Hospice; 100 Patriot's Way; Milford, DE 19963 or to Millville Volunteer Fire Company; P.O. Box 64; Millville, DE 19967.
