DOVER - Thomas Glenn Miller passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013 at home. He was 66 and had been a valiant 5-year survivor of a lung transplant at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa. Mr. Miller was born Nov. 28, 1946 in Warren, Pa. to the late Glenn E. Miller and Mary Mechling Miller. He proudly enlisted in the US Navy for 4 years as a Navy SeaBee and was assigned to the mobile construction, Unit 6, where he served 2 tours in Vietnam. Mr. Miller was a self-employed remodeling carpenter. He was a member of the VFW in Tidioute, Pa. Mr. Miller enjoyed woodworking, going to the beach and, especially, spending time with his family. Tom was a humble and devoted man who will be deeply missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Miller. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 19 years, Mary Lynn Benner Miller of Dover; son, Andy Hersey of Portland, Ore; daughter, Michelle Hersey Moller of Wilmington; sisters, Lois Weneck of Spartenburg, S.C., and MaryAnne Stefanick of Cortland, Ohio; grandchildren, Cole, Chase, Jocelyn, Matthew and Gracie. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 at the Presbyterian Church of Dover, 54 S. State Street, Dover. Reception will follow service immediately after the service at the church hall. Interment will be at 1 p.m. in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Gift of Life House, 401 Callowhill Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123.
