Third arrest made in Middletown shooting incident

Third arrest made in Middletown shooting incident

MIDDLETOWN - Firas Elbashier, 19, of Middletown, was arrested Wednesday in connection with a shooting incident on Sept. 23, authorities said.

Middletown Police spokesman Lt. Matthew Fox said two persons had suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the incident in the area of Bunker Hill Road and Choptank Road.

Two suspects were arrested and charged in October 2022, Lt. Fox said, and Mr. Elbashier was identified as a third suspect as investigation continued.

Mr. Elbashier was taken into custody without incident at his residence, police said. During the search, a handgun and marijuana were recovered.

Charges against Mr. Elbashier included two counts each of first-degreee assault and first-degree reckless endangering, and single counts of second-degree conspiracy, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, civil possession of marijuana, and civil possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mr. Elbashier was arraigned via Justice of the Peace Court 2 and received a $171,002.00 bond. He was transported to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post bail.

Police said they believe all suspects in this incident have been arrested.
