Theodore (Ted) Raymond Zak passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 14, 2025.
Ted was a passionate, kindhearted sensitive soul that touched the lives of all that were lucky enough to know him.
Ted was the beloved husband to Janice for nearly 57 wonderful years. A dedicated father to TJ and Heather and a proud grandfather to Mirabella, Tyler, Gianna, Peyton and Matthew. His family was his greatest joy, and he filled their lives with wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love.
Ted has been a resident of Dover since 1976. He was born on October 8, 1944, in Passaic, New Jersey. He was raised in New Jersey until he attended Pennsylvania Military College. Upon graduation, as a proud patriot, he enlisted in the US army and served as a First Lieutenant.
Following his military career, Ted worked for various companies as a purchasing manager. He left the corporate world, opened his own successful business, and took immense pride in his work. But his true passion was always his family and faith.
Ted was a longtime parishioner at Holy Cross Catholic Church. He was an accomplished sailor and won many regattas. Ted enjoyed golfing and was a member of Maple Dale and Wild Quail Country Clubs.
He was an avid traveler creating lasting memories along the way. A devoted sports fan, he rarely missed a Phillies or Eagles game. Among his most cherished experiences was attending the Super Bowl in 2018 to watch the Eagles win their first Lombardi trophy.
Ted is survived by his loving wife Janice, children TJ Zak (Aubrey), Heather Zak-Ramsay (Jamie), grandchildren Mirabella, Tyler, Gianna, Peyton and Matthew, and sister, Diane Buono (Michael).
Visitation will be held on March 24 at The Funeral Home of Michael J Ambruso at 9 am with a Mass to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 11 am. Military Honors will be rendered in recognition of his service at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Delaware, at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family bequests that donations be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation in his memory. Though he is no longer with us, his kindness, laughter, patriotism, and generous heart will live on in the memories of all that knew and loved him.
