SEAFORD – Thelma E. Pusey passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 24, 2014. Thelma was born in Laurel, Delaware daughter of the late Gardner and Huldah (Adams) Elliott. She was Deputy Comptroller for Sussex County for 15 years, retiring several years ago. Thelma was a member of Asbury U.M. Church and was active in the Women's Society of Christian Service group. Although Thelma had no children, she dearly loved and enjoyed spending time with her sisters and their families, especially her nine nieces and nephews. Thelma also loved cooking. In addition to her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, James W. Pusey who died August 21, 1997; three sisters, Edith E. Scott, Iva Hedges, and an infant sister, Betty Elliott; and a nephew, Donald C. Scott. She is survived by a sister, Doris Rogers, of Georgetown; eight nieces and nephews, Leslie M. Scott and wife Beverlee T., Lorraine Scott, Richard Hedges, Barbara Elliott and husband John, Jim Hedges and wife Kate, Kenny Hedges and wife Barbara, Mary Carey and husband Donald, and Lawrence Clendaniel; 17 great nieces and nephews and 21 great-great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown with visitation 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery. Flowers are accepted, or contributions can be made to the Asbury Cemetery Fund, c/o Mr. Calvert Richardson, 15117 County Seat Highway, Seaford, Del 19973.
