SEAFORD — Delaware State Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in a parking lot Sunday and charged a Seaford teen in connection with the incident.

Nicolas Davis, 31, of Laurel, died after being shot near the Seaford McDonald’s, DSP said, leading to a first-degree murder charge for a 17-year-old Seaford male.

Authorities said Mr. Davis first encountered a group in the McDonald’s drive-thru at 300 S. Dual Highway. The vehicles left the restaurant, but the encounter continued in a parking lot near 1252 Norman Eskridge Highway.

Mr. Davis was shot before the group fled the scene, DSP said. Seaford police officers were called to the area at approximately 8:59 p.m. and found the victim with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

At the request of Seaford police, the DSP Homicide Unit assumed the investigation. The teen was determined to be a suspect in the homicide and taken into custody without incident, police said.

Besides the murder count, the suspect was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited. He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to a juvenile detention facility on a $210,000 cash bond.

This case remains active. Anyone who witnessed this shooting or has information is asked to contact Detective Mark Ryde at 302-741-2730 or mark.ryde@delaware.gov. Information may also be provided by sending a Facebook message to DSP or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or here.
