Suspects sought after robbery at Dover Wawa

Posted

DOVER — Suspects were being sought Monday following a road rage incident and robbery two days earlier.

According to Dover police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid, officers were called to the Wawa at 1424 Forrest Ave. around 9:54 p.m., where they were told by victims that they were driving east on Forrest Avenue and pulled in to the store’s parking lot. The vehicle’s occupants were then approached by a male with a bat, who believed he had been cut off by the driver, authorities said.

The male then shattered the vehicle’s passenger side window, causing one occupant to sustain minor injuries, police said. Two female suspects then approached, ordered the driver out of the car and demanded he turn over money, Cpl. Schmid added. The driver did not initially comply, so police said he was forced to go to the Wawa’s ATM and withdraw an undisclosed amount of money, ultimately turning it over to one of the female suspects.

The suspects then fled from the parking lot in a black Ford F-150.

Police asked anyone with information to call 302-736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be submitted via Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or delaware.crimestoppersweb.com; a cash reward is possible for details leading to an arrest.
