Craddock, 78 GALENA, Md. - Susanne Middleton Craddock, 78, of Galena, died April 12, 2012, in her home. Mrs. Craddock was born on April 12, 1934, daughter of the late Glenn and Ethel Sloat Middleton, and raised in Chevy Chase, Md. She attended Sidwell Friends High School where she was a 1952 graduate. She attended Cornell until 1954 and transferred to the University of Wisconsin, graduating in 1956 with a BS degree in geology. She began her career as a research assistant for the University of Wisconsin in diabetes and radiation oncology. In 1977 she relocated to the east coast working for Johns Hopkins Department of Radiation Oncology, until her retirement in 1987. Susanne was active in Wisconsin as a Girl Scout leader and an environmental champion. In Laurel, MD she was active in the Hunt & Dressage Community and on the eastern shore she along with her husband Joe lectured on environmental studies of the Chesapeake Bay. She was a trainer for obedience and field trials, served on the Board of Directors for the Humane Society of Kent County and active with Border Collie rescues. She was a master gardener and served on the Queen Anne's County Extension Advisory Committee. In 2009 she received the Certificate of Merit from Longwood Gardens for Ornamental Plants. Susanne was a longtime member of the Questors Club and was the last president to serve before the chapter closed in 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Craddock; and a brother, Glenn Middleton, Jr. Susanne is survived by her children, Becky Brown and partner Teresa Souders of Pennsylvania, Kevin Brown and his wife Amy of Illinois, Kathy Monson and her husband Ricky and Christopher Brown and his wife Gretchen, all of Wisconsin; and four grandchildren, Emily and Samantha Monson and Ajith and Chander Brown. A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, April 15, in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W.
