State track meet to be a two-day event after all

Posted

DOVER – After receiving a number of complaints from schools that have proms on Friday, the DIAA has decided not to change the schedule for this weekend’s track & field state championships.

The meet will now be held both Friday and Saturday at Dover High, as originally planned.

The meet was tentatively moved to Friday to avoid the significant rain that is forecast for Saturday. If the meet can’t be held then, it will be moved to Monday – when rain is also in the forecast.

The next available date after that would be Wednesday, May 26.

On the other hand, the first two rounds of the tennis state tournaments will be played on Friday, starting at 1 p.m., to avoid the expected rain on Saturday.
