HARRINGTON — As the sun sank in the sky Saturday, twangs from a guitar floated up over the crowd.

The Delaware State Fair wound down on Saturday night with beer, food trucks and the blues on the track of the M&T Bank Grandstand.

Just after 6 p.m., a long line was already forming for wristbands to the Craft Beer Festival at the fair.

Beyond the shrieks from thrill-seekers on the rides at the Wade Shows Midway, the antique tractors and the poultry shows, visitors were tapping their feet to Grand Funk Railroad and sampling local brews.

The three-hour concert and craft beer event showcased dozens of releases from craft breweries across America.

The event featured the power trio Lower Case Blues, from Newark, and the popular blues band Grand Funk Railroad.

Attendees could purchase a ticket for just the concert, or, for an extra $10, receive tickets to sample beers at the festival.

“We’re having a great time,” said Tina Perry, who was enjoying the Craft Beer Festival with friends and family after spending all day at the fair.

“It’s great. We’re very fortunate we got here early,” agreed David Perry, while lines of people started to form in front of the beer tables.

Clutching their souvenir mugs, attendees watched the music from seats near the stage or chatted while they sipped cold beers.

Food trucks offered everything from “bacon cheddar biscuits” to “mac and cheesesteak.”

“We’re out having a nice enjoyable evening,” said Andy Mackel, who was sitting nearby on the grass.

He was visiting from Denton, Maryland, attending the fair for the first time.

“The weather’s nice. It’s nice to have the beer. We’re looking forward to hearing the band.”
