MIDDLETOWN — The Appoquinimink School District has set a community meeting to discuss the construction of Louis L. Redding Middle School Thursday night in the cafeteria of the current school.

From 6-7, families, staff and other stakeholders are invited to hear about the project, a larger, 1,000-student building being constructed near the present school. Attendees can view a conceptual site plan and give their feedback.

Topics will include a potential wellness center, food and clothing pantry, a computer room and Police Athletic League space. The plan also includes a restored version of the historic front entrance of Redding Middle, which will be rebuilt as part of an outdoor classroom area.

While construction is underway, students will continue attending classes at the current building.
