Smyrna, CR top Gold football selections

A total of 28 Henlopen Conference players have been named to the Gold roster for the 63rd annual Blue-Gold All-Star Football Game.

Three-time defending Division I state champion Smyrna High and Caesar Rodney both had four players selected for the contest, which will be played on June 23 at Delaware Stadium

Bill Collick, who is retiring as Cape Henlopen’s coach, is the Gold head coach. His assistants for the game include his son, Bill Collick Jr. (Cape Henlopen), Shaun Strickland (Milford), Rudy Simonetti (Dover), Dwayne Henry (Seaford) and Dan Candeloro (Caesar Rodney).

Howard’s Dan Ritter is the Blue head coach. His staff includes Rashaan Mathews (Howard), Matt Rice (Howard), Franz Kapel (Hodgson), Virgil Rush (Christiana) and Matt Carre (McKean).

Marvin Dooley (William Penn), will serve as camp director along with Preston Grace (Woodbridge) and John Wilson (St. Georges) as the assistant camp directors. Jody Russell will serve as the DFRC Blue-Golf Athletic Committee Chair.
