DOVER — A 37-year-old Felton man was arrested for felony drug possession and related charges Sunday, Delaware State Police said.
According to DSP spokeswoman Cpl. Amina Ali, troopers responded to a shoplifting report at Walmart, 36 Jerome Drive, at approximately 12:59 p.m. Upon arrival, troopers located Jerry Eaton exiting the store and took him into custody without incident.
While in custody, police said, Mr. Eaton provided false identification to avoid the discovery of an active warrant out of Kent County Superior Court. Troopers also observed that Mr. Eaton’s vehicle, parked in a fire lane, had a fictitious registration plate, Cpl. Ali said.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 4.4 grams of heroin and drug paraphernalia, police added.
Charges against Mr. Eaton include possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance in Tier 2 quantity, possession of a controlled substance in Tier 2 quantity, shoplifting under $1,500, criminal impersonation and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The suspect was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7, Dover, and was due to be released on his own recognizance. However, he was issued a $5,000 cash bond on his outstanding warrant and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, Wilmington.
