Shirley Neal Scharpf

SALISBURY, Md. - Shirley Neal Scharpf died on Dec. 6, 2012 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Shirley was born May 8, 1931 in Cambridge, Md. to the late Raymond and Maude Kinnamon Neal. She moved to Salisbury in 1995. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Neal and her husband, Robert R. Scharpf who passed away in May 1999. Shirley and Bob both had a passion for animals and had many during their marriage. They were also both actively involved in politics. She is survived by two brothers, Warren D. Neal of South Carolina and Charles R. Neal of Wyoming. Shirley also leaves a very special niece, Kathleen Neal Paneitz, who was there every day for her aunt, getting Meals On Wheels, registering her at the Cancer Society for rides, talking with her medical personnel, making many arrangements for her. She was in touch with her Aunt Shirley everyday. She also leaves her very special friends, Doug and Karen Nolan; good friends, Pat B., Margie B., and Frances A. all of Salisbury who offered help, support and prayers, and her loving companion, Lily, her 15 year old beautiful white cat who was constantly by her side; and long time friends, Mary W. and Amanda H. both of Cambridge. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 at Wicomico Memorial Park, 721 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, Md. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wicomico County Humane Society, 5130 Citation Drive, Salisbury, MD, 21804, Meals on Wheels, Development Department, 203 S. Union Street, Alexandria, VA., 22314 or Dorchester County Humane Society, 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD, 21613. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Rd. Salisbury, Maryland 21804.
