LINCOLN - Shirley M. Dickerson passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Shirley was born on Dec. 23, 1933, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Hugh S. and Esther (Birch) Kelso. Mrs. Dickerson was a school teacher at the Christian Tabernacle Academy in Lincoln for 17 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Milford where Shirley was actively involved as a teacher with the children's Sunday school program. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dickerson was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald H. Dickerson in 1996. She is survived by six sons, David H. Dickerson of Lincoln, Jeffrey W. Dickerson of McAllen, Texas, Timothy R. Dickerson of Milford, Donald S. Dickerson of Lincoln, Gregory L. Dickerson of Ellendale, and Alan B. Dickerson of Dover; a sister, Ruth K. Dominic of Houston; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at the Lincoln Cemetery, Clendaniel Pond Rd, Lincoln. Burial will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the New Life Baptist Church, 945 S. DuPont Hwy, Milford, DE, 19963.
