Shirley K. Godfrey, 72

MILTON - Shirley K. Godfrey, of Milton since 1998 and formerly of Reading, Pa., went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, with her husband and children at her side. She was 72.

Mrs. Godfrey was born in New Holland, Pa., daughter of the late Charles R. and Kathryn E. (Kratz) Keiser.

She was the shoe department manager and buyer for Rubinson's Department Store, New Holland, for nine years, retiring in 1978. She also was resident manager from 1963-69 at Spring Gulch Campground, New Holland.

She enjoyed crafting.

Mrs. Godfrey was founder of the Girl Scout and Brownie troops in the Welsh Mountain area of Pennsylvania. She was a former member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Reading, and after moving to Milton, became a member of Grace Church. She loved worshipping the Lord.

She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Levi J. "Lee" Godfrey; six sons and five daughters-in-law, the Rev. Terry L. and Linda (Rohrer) Blessing of Lancaster, Pa., Charles E. "Ed" and wife Kathy (Baker) Blessing of Stevens, Pa., David S. and Charlene (Hawk) Blessing of Lebanon, Pa., and Harry P. and Marcia (McCoy) Godfrey, Jeffrey L. and Debra (Hrezic) Godfrey, and Richard W. Godfrey, all of Reading; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Vicky L. Stanley of East Earl, Pa., Wanda K. and Terry Albright of Strasburg, Pa., and Tammy L. and Charles Jr. Wolf of Ephrata, Pa.; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ruth A. (Keiser) and Paul Frantz of New Holland, and Jane L. (Keiser) and Kenneth Heisler of Lancaster.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Grace Church, 514 Union St., Milton.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the church or to the American Heart Association-Sussex County, Del., Memorial Fulfillment Center, 777 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.

Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Milton.
