Shirley Barnett Dunahoo passed peacefully at home on July 4, 2021.
She was born on June 13, 1937 in Oconee County, Georgia to Carlton and Virginia Barnett, and grew up in Winder, Georgia. Shirley was married to W. Simpson Dunahoo for 65 years. They moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland in 1960, where they spent the remainder of her life.
She was an accomplished homemaker who mastered any creative pursuit she attempted. Her greatest achievement, however, was raising three exceptional children.
She is survived by her husband, Simpson; daughter, Carol of Whitehaven, Maryland; son, Bill and wife Paula of Millersville Maryland; and daughter, Carla and husband Craig of Hebron, Maryland. She was proud of her five grandchildren: Kelly Dunahoo of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Michelle Carp and husband Robert of Arnold Maryland, Ashley Turcotte and husband Jason of Nashua New Hampshire, Joshua Runaldue and wife Joanna of Baltimore, Maryland and Nicholas Lopez of Millsboro, Deleware. In addition, she had seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Carol and husband James of Winder, Georgia.
There will be no formal services per Shirley's request.
Donations may be made to Coastal Hospice in lieu of flowers.
