Seven Henlopen Conference squads are in the 16-team field for the DIAA field hockey state tournament that was determined on Friday morning.

Five-time state champion Cape Henlopen (13-2), whose only two losses were to out-of-state competition, is seeded just fifth by the tourney points system. The Vikings host No. 12 Indian River (10-5) on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in an opening-round game.

The tournament starts with eight first-round contests on either Tuesday or Wednesday, with games beginning at 2:30 p.m.

In Tuesday’s other matchup involving downstate schools, No. 3 Delmar (14-1) hosts No. 14 Lake Forest (8-5-1).

In games on Wednesday, No. 13 Sussex Tech (9-6) plays at No. 4 Tower Hill (14-1), No. 10 Polytech (10-4-1) goes to No. 7 Archmere (11-4) and No. 6 Milford (13-2) hosts No. 11 Concord (9-3-3).

The tournament continues with the quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 12.
