DOVER — A second victim from a July 7 three-vehicle crash at the POW-MIA Parkway and Wyoming Mill Spur succumbed to their injuries last week, authorities announced Tuesday.
Donna Chappell died at UPenn Hospital in Philadelphia on Aug. 4.
Ms. Chappell, 86, was the passenger in a 2002 Honda Odyssey that struck a 2004 Nissan Maxima that traveled directly into its path on July 7, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said. Following the impact, the two vehicles traveled toward a 2017 Infinity QX80 that was then struck while approaching the intersection, police said.
Ms. Chappell was the spouse of Richard Chappell, 88, who was the driver of the Honda Odyssey and who succumbed to injuries from the collision on the night of the incident.
Sgt. Hoffman said an investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
